ClubFloyd Transcript:
The Interview by Mark Walsh
As played on ifMUD on August 30, 2020

The idea behind ClubFloyd is that each week at a pre-arranged time, a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Below is a transcript of The Interview written by Mark Walsh. The Interview was released as part of IntroComp 2020, in which it received an Honorable Mention. You can learn more about the game, including how to download it, by visiting IFDB.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing this game, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played this game, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

DavidW says, "You can't skip pumpkin spice season. You know that."
Jacqueline says, "Oh, I would never."
Jacqueline says, "Besides, pumpkin spice season, for me, is all year long."
Jacqueline says, "Okay, well, I guess I'll go play this one offline alone, then enter all my votes like a good Citizen of IF."
DavidW says, "I don't know what I'll do about food today. I suppose I can make pasta again."
Knight_Otu asks, "This is another game where I'm not sure where it would go in the full version. If we work for Santa, it's no longer an interview, is it?"
Jacqueline asks, "You get to figure out how to make more stuff, maybe?"
Knight_Otu says, "That would fit with what we were doing, yes."
Jacqueline says, "Ugh. So, I'm playing this offline, and the blurb is kinda horrible."
Knight_Otu asks, "HR and "fat boss"?"
Jacqueline says, ";:| The only things standing between you and your dream job are the fat man who would be your boss, the sarcastic little bastard who runs HR, and this surprise interview exam."
Jacqueline says, "Like, that makes me not even want to play"
Jacqueline says, "Oh, it's also the first line of the game."
Jacqueline says, "meh"
Knight_Otu says, "Yeah. It really doesn't scream Christmas, or dream job even."
Knight_Otu says, "Very judgey."
Jacqueline says, "Judgey and shamey and on the whole doesn't feel very mature."
Knight_Otu says, "I do think it would be better if the game was up-front about who we are, who we would be working for. That twist isn't going to work twice."
Knight_Otu says, "And it really shouldn't hide information behind double "X OBJECT"s."
Knight_Otu says, "I might be rambling."
Jacqueline asks, "There's not much exposition here - it's just like, we've left you alone in a room with some stuff and if you want a job figure it out?"
Knight_Otu says, "Yeah."
Jacqueline departs dramatically, saying, "Since I'm probably marked for death anyway, I'm going to have an oreo cookie and then a nap. See you all later, possibly on the #obits bb." Jacqueline says, "Hrm. I guess this is potentially an allegory for an interview at a tech firm."
Jacqueline says, "Don't make it right, though."
Knight_Otu says, "It feels a pretty mixed bag this year."
Jacqueline says, "I got a lot of stuff in the 5-7 range."
Jacqueline says, "But a couple that are 8+"
Jacqueline asks, "Also, hrm. Do I deal with this unity game?"
Knight_Otu says, "I just decided not to vote on it. Probably wouldn't run on my potato anyway."
Knight_Otu says, "Can't give a fair rating if I can't play it."
Jacqueline says, "Right now I have a NR for it."
Jacqueline says, "KO, I don't know if I could deal with having a potato like that. I think I'd just break down and bake it or mash it at some point."
Knight_Otu says, "I admit I haven't tried, but the last few executables wouldn't run for me. Also doesn't help I'm on Linux I'm sure."
Knight_Otu says, "We eat enough potatoes that I'm not tempted to eat this one."
Jacqueline says, "You live a rich life."
Jacqueline says, "I did not know that there was such a thing as enough potatoes."
Knight_Otu says, "Maybe there is, maybe there isn't."
Knight_Otu exclaims, "Either way,I really ought to log off for the day. Good night, and stay safe!"
