ClubFloyd Transcript:
Colonists by Andrew Fuller
As played on ifMUD on February 16, 2014

The idea behind ClubFloyd is that each week at a pre-arranged time, a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Below is a transcript of Colonists written by Andrew Fuller as part of a course assignment in 2013 (more info here). You can learn more about the game, including how to download it, by visiting IFDB.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing this game, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played this game, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

#ClubFloyd Discussion

Jacqueline asks, "So, anybody have anything in mind?"
Jacqueline says, "So far I have found a few games I think we should avoid, one decently-rated porn game (which I'd rather not play) and one that we have not played and has gotten 8 reviews (2 2's, 2 3's, 2 4's, and 2 5's, which is kind of interesting)."
Doug asks, "where's the list again?"
Jacqueline says, "Of course, if you all want to play an adult game, we can. We've done it before, and I can get out the Adult Content warning and dust it off for the transcript if need be."
Jacqueline | [LINK]
Doug says, "thanks!"
Doug says, "wow, small-caps, fancy"
Doug asks, "huh, a Pacian game, Castle of the Red Prince, anyone played that?"
Jacqueline says, "Yes, we've played that."
katie-paquette has arrived. Doug asks, "what's on your short list, Jacq?"
Jacqueline says, "Well, the one I thought we might try if no one had anything was Castronegro Blues"
Jacqueline | [LINK]
Doug says, "this sure is an overwhelmingly large list."
Roger says, "Good enough for me"
Jacqueline says (to Doug), "Yeah, DW puts a lot of work into that."
Doug says, "absolutely, but I meant that there are a lot of authors writing a lot of games."
katie-paquette says (to jacqueline), "I'm here. for 54 more minutes for ClubFloyd"
Roger says, "Rumours of the death of IF may be slightly premature"
Doug asks, "can we play Twine games on Floyd? or would that miss out on the proper medium?"
Roger says, "Randomly, 'Colonists' might be up my alley"
katie-paquette says, "I thought I wouldn't be here but I can stay until 12:00 central standard time."
Jacqueline says, "No, unfortunately, Twine games do not yet work with Floyd."
Jacqueline says, "The only way we could do Twine games is if someone maticulously copied and pasted, and I've done that before, but it's sort of brutal."
Doug says, "yeah, nope."
Jacqueline asks, "Hm. Why don't we play Colonists next week?"
Jacqueline says, "It'll be nice to have something lined up."
Doug says, "no reviews yet, we can be the first!"
Jacqueline says, "Or, hm. We could play castronegro next week and Colonists this week."
Jacqueline exclaims (at Doug), "True!"
Jacqueline says, "Okay, let me upload Colonists."
Jacqueline says, "I'll tell MTW we're playing his game next week, as he may want to join us."
katie-paquette says, "I'm here."
Doug says, "forgiveness rating: Nasty"
Jacqueline says, "Hi, Katie."
Doug asks, "you said save was fixed, right?"
Jacqueline says, "Well, vimes couldn't reproduce what happened last week."
Roger says, "also Ungodly Hour is allegedly short, so"
Jacqueline says, "So his suggestion was to save right when we load the game, then if that works, save as we go to ensure we have something that's not the absolute beginning to go back to."
Doug says, "yep"
Jacqueline says (to Floyd), "load sleepmask colonists"

Floyd | Day 4: This is Co-Pilot Marquet de Pistrix. All the water in our
Floyd | tanks is gone... it must have depressurized while we were in space. I
Floyd | have drank the few cannisters of water in the kitchen, but I will have
Floyd | to find some more soon. I think I saw a swamp outside... maybe I can
Floyd | filter some of that water. Thankfully there is still plenty of food
Floyd | in the kitchen. I still have not been able to get enough power from
Floyd | the ship to send out a distress beacon to the other colonists or to
Floyd | wake up the crew. I'll keep trying.
Floyd | Day 7: It's been a week and this log is the only communication I
Floyd | have, even if it's fairly one sided. Two of the three water filters
Floyd | on the ship were duds and the third seems to struggle with that swamp
Floyd | water. When we get out of this remind me to send a scathing letter
Floyd | back to the requisition officer in charge of this expedition.
Floyd | Day 8: The third filter is caput. I dont think it was doing much
