NightFloyd Transcript:
Headless, Hapless by Geoff Moore
Hill of Souls by Angela Shah
The Horrible Pyramid by Ryan Veeder
As played on ifMUD on December 5, 2013

Like ClubFloyd, the idea behind NightFloyd is that a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Unlike ClubFloyd, NightFloyd often takes on significantly larger works of interactive fiction, knowing going in that each one will take multiple sessions (but not always, as you'll see in this transcript). NightFloyd is also a bit more informal than ClubFloyd in that it's only announced on the ifMUD #clubfloyd bulletin board, and the time shifts around to meet player's schedules far more than ClubFloyd does. NightFloyd is organized by genericgeekgirl, aka Adri.

Below is a transcript of Headless, Hapless written by Geoff Moore, Hill of Souls written by Angela Shah, and The Horrible Pyramid written by Ryan Veeder. Headless, Hapless, Hill of Souls, and The Horrible Pyramid were all released as part of the 2013 EctoComp. You can learn more about the games, including how to download them, by visiting the IFDB pages: Headless, Hapless, The Horrible Pyramid, and Hill of Souls.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing these games, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played these games, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

DavidW says, "I don't know. I suppose there's still Ectocomp games."

Floyd | Shrine
Floyd | Here is Apepsikret's completely horrifying and hypnotic shrine to
Floyd | Sobek, the monster god of monster crocodiles, who eats ibises whole,
Floyd | who grins toothily upon those whom he favors upon, whose head is like
Floyd | unto that of a crocodile.
Floyd |
Floyd | Northeast: Wheel Chamber. Southeast: Graven Chamber. Southwest:
Floyd | Antechamber.
Floyd |
Floyd | A long metal spindle is set into a pedestal here.
Floyd |
Floyd | On the spindle are a miniature silver crocodile head, a miniature
Floyd | silver torso and a pair of miniature silver legs.

Floyd | Graven Chamber
Floyd | This is it. This is the point where time intersects with space and
Floyd | then time puts on all of space's clothes and time starts to believe
Floyd | that time is space and now space has been completely subsumed by time
Floyd | and vice versa and everything is just fantastic. Apepsikret is just
Floyd | ahead.
Floyd |
Floyd | Northeast: Canopic Chamber. East: a statue of the queen. West: a
Floyd | lovely statue of lovely Apepsikret. Northwest: Shrine.
Floyd |
Floyd | There is no north wall. The burial chamber is north. There never was a
Floyd | north wall. Why would there be a north wall? How stupidly hilarious.

Floyd | Burial Chamber
Floyd | The sarcophagus is open, and your god-king-groom-wizard-master is
Floyd | within. His eye sockets glint like empty wells as you approach, and he
Floyd | smiles with his tiny chipped stumps of teeth.
Floyd |
Floyd | You are so glad you've found him, and I am thrilled, I am beyond
Floyd | thrilled, I weep nonexistent eternal tears of invisible joy to know
Floyd | that you have finally found me, the omnipotent and undying Pharaoh
Floyd | Apepsikret, and you are weeping as well, because now you and I will be
Floyd | dead together forever as mummy husband and mummy wife, here in the
Floyd | depths of the Horrible Pyramid.

Floyd asks, "That game over already? It was just getting good. Wanna play another?" DavidW says, "Thanks inky and ggg and Jacqueline."
DavidW has had his fill of playing for now, and goes back to the Lounge.
inky has had his fill of playing for now, and goes back to the Lounge. DavidW says, "Interestingly, the map of Horrible Pyramid is triangular."
DavidW says, "It was an interesting set tonight. More into atmosphere and mechanics than story or puzzles."
