NightFloyd Transcript:
Crater Creek, 2113 by Angela Shah
The Tale of the Cursed Eagle by Slat Leering
Dead Pavane for a Princess by Emily Boegheim
Faithful Companion by Matt Weiner
Fish Dreams by Carolyn VanEseltine
As played on ifMUD on November 14, 2013

Like ClubFloyd, the idea behind NightFloyd is that a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Unlike ClubFloyd, NightFloyd often takes on significantly larger works of interactive fiction, knowing going in that each one will take multiple sessions (but not always, as you'll see in this transcript). NightFloyd is also a bit more informal than ClubFloyd in that it's only announced on the ifMUD #clubfloyd bulletin board, and the time shifts around to meet player's schedules far more than ClubFloyd does. NightFloyd is organized by genericgeekgirl, aka Adri.

Below is a transcript of Crater Creek, 2113 written by Angela Shah, The Tale of the Cursed Eagle written by Slat Leering, Dead Pavane for a Princess written by Emily Boegheim, Faithful Companion written by Matt Weiner, and Fish Dreams written by Carolyn VanEseltine. These games were all released during EctoComp 2013. You can learn more about the games, including how to download them, by visiting the IFDB pages: Crater Creek, 2113, The Tale of the Cursed Eagle, Faithful Companion, Dead Pavane for a Princess, and Fish Dreams.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing these games, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played these games, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

ANOTHER WARNING! A lot (most!) of the transcripts contained on this site are, shall we say, family-friendly. This is not one of those entirely family-friendly transcripts. Just so we're clear. (Though most of it's fine, and the game in question has its own in-game warning, so read on, gentle reader.)

#ClubFloyd Discussion

Zach asks, "What's the game tonight?"
genericgeekgirl says, "Dunno."
genericgeekgirl says, "We were playing Blue Lacuna. Or we could play through more Ectocomp offerings."
Zach says, "I vote for Ectocomp, but that's because I missed some of Blue Lacuana. I am fine with that game being finished."
DavidW says, "Ectocomp is fine with me. I didn't map any of Blue Lacuna."
genericgeekgirl arrives, full of funk, but no fun.

Floyd | Only sporadic shafts of sunlight penetrate to these lonesome depths.
Floyd | Long weeds rise from the sand to drift and tangle in the current.
Floyd |
Floyd | A partially eaten human has come to rest among the weeds.
Floyd |
Floyd | A massive box lies on the sandy floor. Its lid gapes open to reveal
Floyd | the empty interior.
Floyd |
Floyd | A dead human floats down and flops into the sand. After a brief
Floyd | inspection, you confirm that this is the same human you discovered in

Floyd |
Floyd | You push past the human's weak coverings to make a first foray on the
Floyd | soft, tasty innards. And you dream....
Floyd |
Floyd | He thought, if he could trust anyone, he could trust Roselle -
Floyd | until he looked to the bottom of his glass and saw the residue, the
Floyd | rust-red powder inflaming the wine.
Floyd |
Floyd | When he stood, the deck reeled under him, and he couldn't tell any
Floyd | more whether it was inside or outside his head. His skin felt
Floyd | flushed, his head ached, the room spun. What had she dosed him with?
Floyd | What would it do to him?
Floyd |
Floyd | And yet he struggled for control. She had forfeited her share of
Floyd | the profit, that was for certain, and her right to move freely about
Floyd | the cabin. But perhaps things could be remedied, somehow - if he
Floyd | could think through the gathering haze -

Floyd |
Floyd | In her final moments, there was hope that she might live - a
Floyd | blazing, shining hope, filled with the struggle to climb through the
Floyd | water and the struggle to hold her breath.
Floyd |
Floyd | But she lost the second, and then she lost the first, and the
Floyd | water burned into her lungs. It was a useless hope after all, a flash

Floyd |
Floyd | "I mean what I said - " Gene looked sweaty, round, uncomfortable,

Floyd |
Floyd | And by their contract, under these circumstances - the contract he
Floyd | had pushed for himself - Gene could take the company with him, and
Floyd | Jerry was screwed, screwed, screwed.
Floyd |
Floyd | "What are you going to do, Jerry?"
Floyd |
Floyd | "I'm going to kick your ass. I'm going to wreck your car. I'm

Floyd | Betrayal was barely a word she knew. She was shocked when she

Floyd |
Floyd | He was in love with something else, of course - something darker
