ClubFloyd Transcript:
Captain Verdeterre's Plunder by Ryan Veeder
As played on ifMUD on September 18, 2022

The idea behind ClubFloyd is that each week at a pre-arranged time, a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Below is a transcript of Captain Verdeterre's Plunder written by Ryan Veeder. Captain Verdeterre's Plunder was released as part of the 2013 Interactive Fiction Competition, in which it took fourth place It was nominated for the Xyzzies for Best Puzzles and Best Individual Puzzle, and won the Xyzzy for Best Individual NPC. You can learn more about the game, including how to download it, by visiting IFDB.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing this game, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played this game, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

CF |
CF | A beat-up flintlock pistol worth 23 dollars...
CF | The skull of an African gorilla, sold for 70 Spanish dollars to a

CF | orangutan...
CF | A flawless crystal ball worth 60 dollars...
CF | A Dutch peg doll which, after some modification and repainting, was

CF | A musky grey lump, later identified as a piece of rare ambergris,

CF | A plate of fine Japanese porcelain, sold to a heron enthusiast for 160
CF | dollars...
CF | An incomplete set of Verlaine silver worth 90 dollars...
CF | A zither, origins unknown, sold to a musical enthusiast for 40

CF | A medallion of mysterious provenance, sold for 68 dollars...
CF | A small brass crown, which Verdeterre refused to even consider
