NightFloyd Transcript:
Fifteen Minutes by Ade McT
As played on ifMUD on October 2, 2014

Like ClubFloyd, the idea behind NightFloyd is that a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Unlike ClubFloyd, NightFloyd often takes on significantly larger works of interactive fiction, knowing going in that each one will take multiple sessions (but not always, as you'll see in this transcript). NightFloyd is also a bit more informal than ClubFloyd in that it's only announced on the ifMUD #clubfloyd bulletin board, and the time shifts around to meet player's schedules far more than ClubFloyd does. NightFloyd is organized by genericgeekgirl, aka Adri.

Below is a transcript of Fifteen Minutes by Ade McT. Fifteen Minutes took sixth place in the 2014 Interactive Fiction Competition. It went on to win Best Individual Puzzle in the 2014 Xyzzy Awards. You can learn more about the game, including how to download it, by visiting the ifWiki.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing this game, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played this game, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

Floyd | You're in trouble. Professor Hildebrand has not taken kindly to that F
Floyd | on your latest Science test.
Floyd |
Floyd | And now here you are in the science lab, facing a small angry
Floyd | professor, his beard literally bristling as he berates you in that
Floyd | faint German accent you've come to know so well.
Floyd |
Floyd | "You do not listen," he shouts, flinging his arms into the air in
Floyd | frustration, "it is as though you do not care at all about science!"
Floyd |
Floyd | He's right, of course. You don't. In fact, you're not really listening
Floyd | even now. Up to the point he says "fail" and "expel". That's not good.
Floyd | You probably should do something about that.
Floyd |
Floyd | "Gaah," says the professor, "I waste my time." He glances at his
Floyd | watch, "I will be back in 15 minutes. Please do not leave the room
Floyd | until I return. Then we shall see the principal together, yes?"
Floyd | Waggling his finger, he leaves the Laboratory and closes the door
Floyd | behind him.

Floyd |
Floyd | Rules for Time Travel.
Floyd |
Floyd | 1. DO NOT try and communicate with yourself. It only leads (has led)

Floyd | 2. Once SEEN a thing CANNOT (has not) (will not) be (have (been))
Floyd | unseen!
Floyd | 3. Once DONE a thing MUST ALWAYS have been (will be) done!
Floyd | 4. The Universe is self consistent. There is only one of it.
Floyd | 6. Attempting to corrupt the timeline will (have) lead (led) to
Floyd | paradox paralysis.
Floyd | 7. Bootstrapping appears possible. Both information and things.
Floyd | 8. There is only one time stream. If time is a river, then IT WILL
Floyd | NOT be diverted.
Floyd | 9. Warning! The future is not yet created. More research needed here,
Floyd | I think.
Floyd | 10. The past is created in the now, and is immutable.
Floyd |
Floyd | A note scribbled underneath the list reads: "More? Which of these, if
Floyd | broken, will destroy (has already destroyed?) the universe? Must

Floyd | Fifteen Minutes is copyright 2014 by Ade McT. It may be
Floyd | distributed for free, but not sold or included in any for-profit

Floyd |
Floyd | The vast proportion of the bug free gamplay is due to the rigorous
Floyd | Beta testing of: Joseph Geipel, Airtamis, Katzy and Devi Acharya.
Floyd | Also, thanks to the many folk on the intfiction.org forum who have
Floyd | helped me through the inform7 learning curve.
Floyd |
Floyd | The game is written in Graham Nelson's most excellent Inform7 and

Floyd |
Floyd | Thanks also to Robert Heinlein whose (to be honest, only partially

Floyd | With a creak, a compartment hidden in the lab equipment opens. There
Floyd | seems to be a Fifth You in there!
Floyd | Second You dabbles about.
Floyd |
Floyd | At 2:16 pm:
Floyd | Third you looks round.
